Singer-songwriter Amos Lee takes MSU Riley Center stage Nov. 14
Singer-songwriter Amos Lee aims for the heart as well as the ears. The intimate setting of the MSU Riley Center, where he will appear in concert on November 14, will provide the perfect showcase for his intensely personal lyrics and honeyed folk-soul singing. The show will start at 7:30 p.m.
Lee, a Pennsylvania native, has built a major following in the Mid-Atlantic states. Touring as an opening act for such stars as Norah Jones, Bob Dylan and Zac Brown Band introduced him to a wider audience.
He has also broadened his music from its original folk-based sound. After recording last year’s “Spirit,” his most recent album, he said, “We came away from these sessions with a hybrid sound I wasn’t able to find in my previous records, but which I’ve always gravitated to as a listener -- real gospel-soul-R&B stuff.”
Always, Lee tries to connect emotionally with his listeners. As he told the crowd at the end of a recent concert, “Hope you’ve been able to feel it more than hear it.”
Tickets are $68 and $62 at the MSU Riley Center Box Office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at (601) 696-2200.
