Cutting-edge Jessica Lang Dance comes to MSU Riley Center
Jessica Lang Dance, America’s most inventive and visually striking modern dance company, will perform at the MSU Riley Center in downtown Meridian on Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m.
Jessica Lang, who studied at the Juilliard School, spent more than a decade as an in-demand freelance choreographer before forming her own company in 2011. She has drawn rave reviews for her energetic, thoughtful explorations of both modern dance and ballet, choreographed to everything from classical music to contemporary electronica.
Her dancers project strength, grace and deep emotion. Lang uses them in combination with scenery, costumes and video projections to create stunning, ever-changing visual compositions.
“She leaves you feeling optimistic about the future of American dance, moved by her themes, her inspired collaborators and marvelous dancers,” writes critic Deirdre Towers in Eye on Dance. “Her clarity is infectious.”
Tickets are $39 and $33 at the MSU Riley Center Box Office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at (601) 696-2200.
