Sponsored project purchasing and contracting: What do you need to know?

You may be familiar working with Procurement and Contracts for your departmental purchasing needs, but do you know when/how to work with Procurement vs. Sponsored Programs Administration on your sponsored projects?

Join the Office of Research and Economic Development at Mississippi State for a Sponsored Project Purchasing and Contracting: What You Need to Know seminar on Thursday [April 7] from 3-4:30 p.m. in the theater at Bost Extension Center. In this seminar, participants will learn about the operations of both offices with an emphasis on the role each plays in budgeting and purchasing under sponsored projects.

The research community as a whole is currently under an extended grace period as it awaits a final determination to what, if any, impact the OMB Uniform Guidance will have on procurement. Now is a great time to make sure your department is up to date on current procurement requirements. If sole source justifications and bid requirement thresholds are not in your repertoire, then this informative seminar is for you. The session is open to researchers and departmental administrators or accountants who want a better understanding of the purchasing processes and regulations under sponsored projects.

Don Buffum, the director of Procurement and Contracts at MSU, and Penny French, an assistant director of Sponsored Programs Administration, will lead the session.
