University updates phone-messaging system with 'Pride Points'

Being put on hold doesn't sound like the most productive use of time -- unless you're calling Mississippi State University.

MSU callers placed on hold now hear the latest "Pride Points," a collection of highlights reinforcing MSU's national leadership in scientific research and its trailblazing achievements in medicine, agriculture, engineering, business, education, aviation, architecture and many other fields.

"Mississippi State's on-hold messaging system is another tool we're using to communicate our identity to broader audiences and share our success stories," said Sid Salter, MSU's chief communications officer. "Callers will learn how our students are designing the eco-friendly car of the future, finding a cure for pandemic flu, helping solve world hunger, and partnering with NASA on future space exploration, to name just a few of their many accomplishments."

The phone-messaging system ties into the We Ring True branding campaign launched last year to reinforce MSU's standing as a premier research institution where students are driven to make a difference. Callers may recognize the "Pride Points" voice -- it's the same narrator used in the We Ring True series of video, television and radio advertisements.

Other promotional tools recently introduced by MSU include a social media hub, a revamped website, "The MSU Experience" video series and the #WeRingTrue social-media initiative.

MSU is Mississippi’s leading university, available online at www.msstate.edu.
