CASLE issues call for mini-grant funding proposals

The Center for the Advancement of Service-Learning Excellence (CASLE) service-learning mini-grant is intended to directly support activities related to developing, implementing or expanding service-learning opportunities for Mississippi State students or 4-H youth.

Service-learning integrates meaningful community service, community engagement or civic engagement into academic course or 4-H objectives through experiential learning and critical reflection to enrich the educational experience of students and youth in order to, teach civic responsibility, and meet the needs of a community.

Any Mississippi State faculty member (full or part-time) or Extension agent is eligible to receive a mini-grant. Funding must be spent by the end of the 2017 fiscal year and cannot be used to pay for student or faculty salaries. Recipients must also complete a mid-year and year-end project report documenting how funds were spent.

Applicants may request up to $500 for service-learning course or project support. Preference will be given to projects that directly impact the expansion and support of service-learning opportunities for MSU students or 4-H youth addressing critical community needs.

Applications are due April 7. Award announcements will be made May 6.
