ORNL accepting applications for Liane Russell Distinguished Early Career Fellowship

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) invites applications from all fields of science and engineering for the Liane Russell Distinguished Early Career Fellowship, which provides funding support for three years along with formal mentorship to facilitate successful integration of Russell fellows’ research with DOE programs.

Russell fellows are expected to pursue independent research of high quality and high impact within their areas of expertise as outlined in their research proposals.

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to bioscience, chemistry, computer science, earth and atmospheric sciences, engineering, materials science, mathematics, nuclear sciences and engineering and physics. The fellows will be rooted in research divisions, conducting their work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary team environment.

Russell fellows will also work with their supporting division to develop a plan for their research to become a sustainable, long-term program at ORNL.

Please note that two important changes have been made to eligibility this year:

* Candidates should be upcoming or recent Ph.D. graduates with no more than three years of post-Ph.D. research experience.

* ORNL staff and ORNL postdocs are not eligible.

Those interested must first apply online at http://1.usa.gov/1JQaaGw. Upon application, candidates will receive correspondence in five business days providing further application instructions including the proposal template and an evaluation form to be submitted by references.

Applications will be accepted through Oct. 31. For questions regarding this fellowship, please contact Lauren Wurth at wurthla@ornl.gov.
