Mississippi Research Consortium issues call for concept papers
The Mississippi Research Consortium (MRC) is now accepting concept papers that are visionary and have the potential to dramatically expand the scope of research capabilities in the state. The papers should be forward-looking -- envisioning where the next frontiers of science will be.
Comprised of Mississippi State, the universities of Mississippi and of Southern Mississippi, and Jackson State University, the MRC is seeking papers that identify potential statewide research initiatives, enabling multi-disciplinary research programs that capitalize on existing and potential strengths in Mississippi and increase the breadth and depth of research at the MRC institutions.
These concept papers will help the MRC identify unique opportunities for funding initiatives from a variety of sources, and will help position the MRC to capitalize on opportunities as they arise, and to advocate for the creation of new opportunities through agency and congressional leadership.
The concept papers will also play an important role when competitive selection is necessary for statewide proposal submission efforts such as NSF EPSCoR, NASA EPSCoR, DOE EPSCoR, and NIH INBRE.
Interested researchers at MSU should submit their papers no later than Nov. 21 via email to MRC Chairman David Shaw, vice president for research and economic development at Mississippi State, at dshaw@research.msstate.edu. Please copy Teresa Gammill at tgammill@research.msstate.edu on the submission.
Researchers at other MRC institutions should submit their papers to their chief research officer.
