Amy Grant to showcase latest work at the MSU Riley Center in May
It’s been more than three decades since Amy Grant began her reign as the “Queen of Christian Pop,” and fans still delight in her sweet voice, skillful guitar playing and authentic lyrics.
With her most recent album releasing just last year, Grant brings her uplifting music to the MSU Riley Center in downtown Meridian on May 2 for a 7:30 p.m. performance.
When her 1977 debut album was released, Grant was a teenager. Since then, she’s logged many miles on the road, unleashed more than 25 albums, garnered six Grammy awards as well as 26 Dove awards. So it’s no surprise that her latest release, “How Mercy Looks From Here,” is crafted from a deep well of life experiences.
Divorce, blended families, the death of her mother -- each song on the 2013 album comes from real-life circumstances. A number of tracks also feature several well-known collaborators, including James Taylor, Sheryl Crow and husband Vince Gill.
Tickets are $59 and $53 at the MSU Riley Center box office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at 601-696-2200.
