Life After College to provide interactive budgeting simulation for students
Mississippi State University students are invited to explore "Life After College" on Tuesday [April 8]. Total time for the activity for participants will be approximately 30 minutes from check-in to visiting the decision-making stations, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Colvard Student Union's Dawg House.
This special budgeting simulation is designed to help students consider the consequences of their personal financial choices during college and just after graduation that can have long-term effects on families and futures.
Students who complete the simulation will be entered into a drawing for a mini iPad provided by Statewide Credit Union. The first 100 students to finish will receive a t-shirt.
Instructors who encourage classes to participate can ask students to provide completed activity sheets signed by each station facilitator.
The program will introduce students to the realities associated with career and family life as they move through a series of 14 spending choices for housing, cars, food, credit cards, insurance, childcare, paying back student loans and more.
Professional volunteers from a variety of campus departments and community organizations will be available to answer questions and assist students in the consumer decision-making process.
