Apply today: Maroon Institute for Writing Excellence
The Maroon & Write QEP Office is pleased to offer the Maroon Institute for Writing Excellence in June. The MIWE is designed to introduce writing-to-learn strategies for use in the classroom. During this three-week interactive workshop, participants will receive guidance in revising syllabi and creating relevant writing assignments. Participants will meet 1-3 p.m. Monday-Thursday, June 5-26. The application deadline is March 7.
University hosting PERS seminar Wednesday
Human Resources Management at Mississippi State is hosting a PERS pre-retirement, full-day seminar on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bost Extension Center on the Starkville campus. The seminar offers general information on a range of topics, including estate planning, the Mississippi Deferred Compensation Plan and Trust, Social Security benefits, and PERS benefits and options.
MVC presents Interfaith Movie Night
The Maroon Volunteer Center at Mississippi State details a number of volunteer opportunities for the campus community in its current newsletter, including Interfaith Movie Night on Monday, Girl Scouting in the School Day, Habitat for Humanity shifts, Rock the Cradle 5K, and the Chick-fil-a race series to benefit Palmer Home for Children.
Nominations wanted for Powe, research awards
The nomination period is open for Mississippi State University's 2014 Research Awards and the Ralph E. Powe Research Excellence Award. Employees and students are encouraged to submit nominations for this year's program. Complete nomination packets for all awards are due in the Office of Research and Economic Development on or before March 3.

Men's Basketball hosts Tennessee on Wednesday at 7 p.m., and then travels to Columbia for a 12:30 p.m. tipoff against Missouri on Sunday... Track & Field competes at the SEC Championships at College Station beginning Thursday...
