New walking track construction underway
Mississippi State is beginning construction of a walking and exercise track to provide additional health benefits for university employees, students and local community members. Noting the consistent patterns of recent late winter-early spring rains, project manager Bill Broyles said the MSU Division of Student Affairs is "so pleased construction finally has begun."
Broyles said the .95-mile walkway will include a .80-mile concrete loop encircling Chadwick Lake on the north side of campus, with an additional .15-mile exercise loop adjacent to the Sanderson Center.
Refresh Leadership Live 2013 simulcast Wednesday
Human Resources Management at Mississippi State University, in conjunction with Express Employment Professionals of Starkville, will host a simulcast of Refresh Leadership Live 2013 on Wednesday in Colvard Student Union's Fowlkes Auditorium. The half-day session starts at 8 a.m.

Faculty leadership program seeks nominations
For the 2013-2014 academic year, the Office of Research and Economic Development and the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President will again be conducting an academic leadership program for selected faculty at Mississippi State. This program has been very successful in the past, and many of its participants serve in key leadership positions on campus today. For the upcoming year, attendance will be limited to approximately 12 individuals who will be chosen from those who apply.

With political campaigning for local elections underway, Mississippi State's Office of General Counsel reminds employees to be aware of the university's policy on political activities. There are several basic guidelines that university employees should keep in mind when engaging in any form of political activity.

Egg Bowl returns to Thanksgiving night on ESPN
The Southeastern Conference and ESPN announced April 10 that the 110th Battle for the Golden Egg -- the annual rivalry football game between Mississippi State and Ole Miss -- will be played at 6:30 p.m. CT on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, in 2013. "This is a tremendous opportunity for our state’s largest football game to be played on the largest stage of a crowded football weekend," director of athletics Scott Stricklin said.
