Bruce becomes newest distinguished professor
The Bagley College of Engineering's associate dean for research and graduate studies has earned the university's highest honorary distinction for faculty. During an April ceremony, Lori Mann Bruce was named a W.L. Giles Distinguished Professor. Of the university's 1,096 active faculty, only 13 hold this honorary title.
BCoE achievements recognized during banquet
The Bagley College of Engineering celebrated a year of accomplishments and presented two faculty awards during the annual Faculty Excellence Program at Old Waverly in West Point. Among the night's honorees were Nicolas Younan, who received the Career Achievement Award, and Burak Eksioglu, who received the Research Award.
Eksioglu, Elmore join BCoE's 'distinguished' ranks
Two Bagley College of Engineering faculty members have earned positions in the college's Academy of Distinguished Teachers. Sandra Eksioglu, an assistant professor in industrial and systems engineering, and Bill Elmore, an associate professor in chemical engineering, were announced as the academy's newest members during an April ceremony.
Adams named Purchasing Manager of the Year
The Mississippi Association of Governmental Purchasing and Property Agents has named Mississippi State University's Taylor V. Adams the state's Purchasing Manager of the Year. Adams is a purchasing manager in the land-grant institution's Office of Procurement and Contracts.
ORS now offering fingerprint scanning
The Office of Research and Economic Development at Mississippi State recently purchased and installed new electronic fingerprint scanning equipment. "We installed the scanner to meet a requirement for submitting clearance requests to the U.S. government from MSU students, faculty and staff. Starting in 2013, the Office of Personnel Management will no longer accept the 'ink and roll' method of fingerprinting because there are too many instances of fingerprints being rejected with that method," said Office of Research Security Director Neil Lewis.
