Senior Homeland Security official visiting Tuesday
A senior official from the federal agency charged with ensuring a homeland that is safe, secure and resilient against terrorism and other hazards will visit Mississippi State this Tuesday. Peter Fonash, chief technology officer for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) cybersecurity and communications organization, will meet with faculty and students, tour several of the university's research labs, and also present a public lecture.
NSF program officer discussing funding Wednesday
Mississippi State's Office of Research and Economic Development and the Office of Diversity and Equity Programs will host National Science Foundation program officer Claudia Rankins via WebEx on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Exhibit features future housing strategies
Mississippi State's School of Architecture is showcasing winning entries from the d3 Housing Tomorrow Design Competition through Friday in the university's Giles Hall Gallery. MSU assistant professor Alexis Gregory is exhibition curator, along with Gregory Marinic, director of interior architecture and assistant professor of architecture in the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture at the University of Houston.
Chemistry department golf tournament Friday
An public golf tournament this Friday at Mississippi State will benefit undergraduate scholarships in the university's chemistry department. One of many activities surrounding the annual Super Bulldog Weekend, the four-person scramble will begin with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start at the MSU Golf Course, located approximately three miles east of campus on Hwy. 182.
Annual 4-H golf classic moves to new venue
The 13th-annual Mississippi 4-H Golf Classic will be at the Lake Caroline Golf Course in Madison on May 22. The annual golf classic is a fundraiser for the Mississippi 4-H youth development program, part of the Mississippi State University Extension Service. Development officer Morris Houston said the event was moved to make it more convenient and accessible for participants.
Hollender joins men's basketball staff
Rick Ray moved one step closer to filling his staff openings last Monday when he announced the hiring of assistant Chris Hollender. The 35-year-old Hollender comes to Mississippi State after spending the past four years in the same capacity at Evansville, his alma mater.
Ray completes basketball staff with Gordon's hiring
With the hiring of Adam Gordon last Tuesday, Rick Ray's staff at Mississippi State is now intact. Gordon, who spent the past season on B.J. Hill's staff at Northern Colorado, will have the title of director of operations.
Harris joins Lady Bulldogs hoops staff
Mississippi State women's basketball coach Vic Schaefer has started forming his coaching staff with a familiar face, as Texas A&M assistant coach Johnnie Harris is joining the Lady Bulldogs as associate head coach.
Frankin added to Lady Bulldog coaching staff
Mississippi State women's basketball coach Vic Schaefer added another member to his coaching staff as he announced Kansas assistant and former Texas A&M standout A'Quonesia "Aqua" Franklin is joining the Lady Bulldogs as an assistant coach.
