New name, services for sponsored programs office
The Mississippi State office charged with overseeing externally-sponsored programs -- the grants, contracts and related agreements that help fund research -- is getting a new name this month and expanding the services it provides faculty and staff. Known previously as Sponsored Programs Administration, the new Office of Sponsored Projects features a renewed focus on streamlining the research administration process and helping researchers write successful funding proposals.

Institutional Repository now accepting submissions
The new MSU Institutional Repository is now online and accepting submissions. The repository -- available at http://ir.library.msstate.edu -- is a central digital archive for collecting, organizing, preserving, and sharing Mississippi State's history, intellectual and scholarly creations, and research data.

SMART modifying shuttle routes for summer
Starkville-MSU Area Rapid Transit (SMART) is modifying several routes through Aug. 11. However, the Boardtown North, Boardtown South, Highway 12 Express, Old Main Express, and the Golden Triangle Regional Airport Express will continue to operate as usual during the summer.

Athletics partners with Year of the Cowbell
Mississippi State Athletics and Learfield’s MSU Bulldog Sports Properties have announced they have entered into a new partnership with Year of the Cowbell naming the company the “Official Cowbell of MSU Athletics” for the next three years. “We’re excited to be partnering with Year of the Cowbell as they are becoming a known and well trusted name in the industry,” MSU Director of Athletics Scott Stricklin said.

McCrary formally joins annual giving staff
The Mississippi State University Foundation this month welcomes Brittany McCrary of Athens, Alabama, as assistant director of annual giving. She joins fellow alumnae Jana Berkery, annual giving director, and Ally Walker, associate annual giving director, as a development team member for the MSU Annual Fund. The MSU Annual Fund provides an avenue for donors to support any area of the 138-year-old land-grant institution.
Design project selected for prominent N.Y. exhibition
The Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum’s SuperUse Pavilion, a part of the museum’s rain garden program that has benefited from the efforts of more than 100 Mississippi State undergraduate and graduate-level students, recently has been selected for exhibition at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City.
Leadership transition for UAS center of excellence
USAF Maj. Gen. (Ret.) James Poss is departing from Mississippi State University July 1 after successfully leading the multi-year effort to land the Federal Aviation Administration’s Center of Excellence for Unmanned Aircraft Systems. “I can’t say enough about the work Jim Poss has done for this university and for the state of Mississippi’s efforts to grow the aerospace industry,” said David Shaw, vice president for research and economic development at Mississippi State.
Marketing, video department hires in Athletics
Mississippi State Athletics has announced the hiring of Jake Amodio as assistant director of marketing and Nicole Reighter as assistant director of video operations for Hail State Productions. Amodio brings over three years of marketing experience to MSU. Reighter comes to Starkville after two years as a production assistant for the University of South Carolina’s Gamecock Productions.
