Morrison to speak in Jackson for ‘History is Lunch’
A Mississippi State faculty member and author is scheduled to speak in Jackson Wednesday on his book highlighting one of Mississippi’s most influential civil rights figures. K.C. Morrison, professor and head of MSU’s Department of Political Science and Public Administration as well as a senior associate in African American studies, will discuss his book “Aaron Henry of Mississippi: Inside Agitator” as part of the History Is Lunch series, sponsored by Mississippi Department of Archives and History.

International exhibit features Funderburk's painting
A longtime faculty member and former head of the Mississippi State College of Architecture, Art and Design’s art department is receiving international recognition. Professor Brent Funderburk’s watercolor painting, “Flying World,” is among 150 works selected for inclusion in one of the world’s largest competitive exhibits dedicated to water-based painting media.

Baseball plays Ole Miss in Pearl at Trustmark Park at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, and then visits Tuscaloosa for a weekend series against Alabama with games on Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Friday at 7 p.m., and Saturday at 3 p.m. ... Softball hosts South Alabama on Tuesday at 6 p.m., and then Missouri on Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at 3:30 p.m. for an SEC weekend series at Nusz Park... Track & Field hosts the MSU Invitational on Saturday.

 

Mississippi State, UMMC launch partnership
Mississippi State officials welcomed colleagues from the University of Mississippi Medical Center to campus last week for the launch of a new initiative tackling many of the state’s most critical health care challenges. In the Hunter Henry Center’s Parker Ballroom, Mississippi State President Mark E. Keenum and Dr. LouAnn Woodward, vice chancellor for health affairs and dean of the School of Medicine at UMMC, signed a memorandum of understanding formalizing the partnership.
College of Business dedicates E-Center
The College of Business at Mississippi State welcomed a large crowd that included business leaders, alumni, donors and entrepreneurs to the McCool Hall atrium last week for a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Center for Entrepreneurship and Outreach. “This has truly been an evolutionary process,” said Sharon Oswald, College of Business dean. “Nobody could envision what we have today, but it is easy now to envision what we can do for the future.”
Dickerson now permanent enrollment leader
Mississippi State’s registrar and a veteran administrator at the university now is his alma mater’s permanent assistant vice president for enrollment. John R. Dickerson came back to MSU in 2012 to lead the Office of the Registrar. In early 2015, he also became interim head of enrollment. “We are pleased to have someone with Dr. Dickerson’s experience and background holding this important position,” Interim Provost Julia Hodges said.
