Grado honored with annual service award at banquet
Steve Grado
Mississippi State University forestry professor Steve Grado was recognized with the annual service award at the College of Forest Resources' recent advisory committee banquet.
Grado is a congenial faculty member, praised for his willingness to serve colleagues in all capacities, including being a mentor for junior faculty. His work in advancing forestry through service to professional organizations is also exemplary.
He is a recognized scientist in multiple-use forestry and is the lead social/economic assessor for the Rainforest Alliance, and serves as a certifier for the Forest Stewardship Council's standards for forest sustainability and chain-of-custody.
Grado is a Fellow in the Society of American Foresters and was named George L. Switzer Professor of Forestry in 2009. This year he was named the 2011 Forest Conservationist of the Year by the Mississippi Wildlife Federation.
Grado holds a bachelor's degree from both Villanova University and Pennsylvania State University. He also earned master's and doctoral degrees from Pennsylvania State University.
