Alzheimer's care workshops this week

Mississippi State University's Staff Council is partnering with the Alzheimer's Association-Mississippi Chapter to offer one and a half days of programming this week geared towards family members and caretakers of Alzheimer's patients and anyone interested in learning more about this disease.

The program is open to all university staff, students and faculty, as well as the community. Staff Council is offering this as part of its mission to provide relevant programming for staff development.

The sessions are:

April 4, 2012: General Programming

8:30-9:30 a.m. -- Alzheimer's 101
9:30-10:30 a.m. -- Know the 10 Signs
10:30-11:30 a.m. -- Communication and Behavior Challenges for Caregivers

Repeat of morning's programs
1-2 p.m. -- Alzheimer's 101
2-3 p.m. -- Know the 10 Signs
3-4 p.m. -- Communication and Behavior Challenges for Caregivers

April 5, 2012: More Specific Caregiver Education

8-9:30 a.m. -- Living with Alzheimer's for Caregivers -Early Stages
9:30-11:30 a.m. -- Middle Stages

Programming will be presented by Alzheimer's Association outreach coordinator Sara Murphy, and held in the Bost Extension Center theatre on the Starkville campus.
