ARF presents students with achievement awards



Four Mississippi State students received awards for outstanding achievement during the Christmas Awards Banquet of the MSU Association of Retired Faculty on Nov. 30. Recipients of the $500 awards selected by university faculty committees in their respective areas of study are (from left) Meredith Hilliard, winner of the Peyton Ward Williams, Jr., Distinguished Writing Award, an English and Spanish major from Hernando; Anne Larrah Johnson, winner of the Charles E. Lindley Leadership in Agriculture Award, a biochemistry major from Dyersburg, Tenn.; and Leah Ballard Welborn, winner of the William L. Giles Award for Excellence in Architecture, an architecture major from Mathiston, pictured with ARF Scholarship Committee chair Warren Couvillion. The winner of the Harry Charles F. Simrall Award for Engineering Excellence, not pictured, is Kennedy Jayne Brown, an industrial engineering major from Columbus.
