Award-winning poet visiting campus Tuesday

An award-winning Ohio poet will read from his works Tuesday, Sept. 6 at Mississippi State.

Don H. Bogen is the inaugural guest for the university's 2011-12 Robert Holland Visiting Writers Series. Open to all, the program begins at 8 p.m. in the third-floor Fowlkes Auditorium of the Colvard Student Union.

An English professor at the University of Cincinnati's McMicken College, Bogen is the author of four books of poetry, including "An Algebra" (University of Chicago Press, 2009). He also has produced a critical work, "A Necessary Order: Theodore Roethke and the Writing Process" (Ohio University Press, 1991). For more biographical information, click here. His honors include the Emily Dickinson Award of the Poetry Society of America and a Fulbright Senior Lectureship in Spain, among others.

The speaker series is a memorial to the former head of the MSU English department that sponsors the annual arts and letters program.
