Mago elected to ASME national committee

Pedro Mago

The Bagley College of Engineering is now represented among members of a national mechanical engineering society’s department head executive committee.

MSU department head Pedro Mago has been chosen to serve a two-year term for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) committee, beginning in 2016.

The ASME Mechanical Engineering Department Head Executive Committee (MEDHC) represents the interests of department heads to the ASME Board of Directors. They also work to facilitate and encourage communication among department heads and ASME regarding sponsorship, organization and involvement in numerous professional conferences, forums, and workshops.

“This will be a great opportunity for me to represent the mechanical engineering department and the Bagley College of Engineering, as well as an opportunity to collaborate and discuss innovations in mechanical engineering education with other mechanical engineering department heads worldwide,” Mago said.

Mago earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Universidad de Oriente in Venezuela, followed by both a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in mechanical engineering form the University of Florida. In addition to serving as ME department head and professor, Mago fills the positions of MSU PACCAR chair.
