MSU Extension radio show wins national award

Gary Bachman and Amy Taylor Myers

Two employees with the Mississippi State University Extension Service received a national award from the National Association of County Agricultural Agents.

Amy Taylor Myers, an Extension associate in the Office of Agricultural Communications, and Gary Bachman, associate Extension and research professor at the Coastal Research and Extension Center, received an achievement award for their Southern Gardening radio segments in the “Communications: Audio Recording” category.

Bachman writes and narrates the segments. Myers edits, adds music and sends them to radio stations around the state. The NACAA and Bayer Advanced sponsored the award.

The NACAA is for Extension professionals and educators who work in agriculture, horticulture, forestry and natural resources. The organization promotes and provides professional improvement opportunities for its members.
