Super Bulldog Weekend kicks off Friday




The 30th-annual Super Bulldog Weekend, a Mississippi State spring homecoming tradition featuring three days of athletic events and a pig cooking contest, will take place Friday [April 17] through Sunday [April 19] on the Starkville campus. The event is once again being presented by Regions Bank.

Kickoff for the Maroon-White spring football game at Davis Wade Stadium will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday [April 18]. Admission to the spring football game is free. The Bulldogs under the direction of the 2014 National Coach of the Year Dan Mullen are coming off one of the most memorable seasons in school history that featured 10 victories and the program’s first No. 1 national ranking.

Coach John Cohen's Diamond Dogs host Florida in a much-anticipated three-game set at Dudy Noble Field with times at 6:30 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Coach Vann Stuedeman’s MSU softball team welcomes Tennessee in a key Southeastern Conference series at 5:30 p.m. Friday, 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

The annual pig-cooking contest gets underway Friday with judging scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at McArthur Hall on the corner of Barr Ave. and Collegeview St. The Cotton District Arts Festival, a showcase of art, music and food in Starkville, will take place on Saturday.
