DAFVM Spotlight Employee: Vicki Adams-Gamble

Vicki Adams-Gamble

With more than 20 years of experience working in the early childhood field, Vicki Adams-Gamble has a lot of person expertise to share in her work as a field technical assistant for the MSU Extension Service.

Adams-Gamble works with The Early Years Network at its mid-Jackson location. She mentors and trains childcare providers and directors at childcare centers in Hinds and Rankin counties.

“I teach and demonstrate best practices, how to implement different lessons and how to add new materials to the classroom in a positive and educational way,” she said. “My favorite part of this job is seeing the faces of kids who welcome me once I’m there. They know I want to help them and expose them to different learning experiences.”

One of the benefits of her work is seeing a positive end result.

“Based on our work together, teachers become more active and engaged. They’re more willing to add new materials and try new teaching approaches. When the center’s number of quality rating stars go up, I know I’ve done a good job.”

Before working at MSU, Adams-Gamble worked as a teacher’s assistant in the Jackson Public School System for 7 years. Prior to that, she worked in a child care center. She completed her undergraduate degree at Jackson State University.

“You must have a love of kids to do what we’re doing,” she said.

The Real Mother Goose is her all-time favorite children’s book, but she is an avid reader who will read just about anything.

She loves sports and is a true Dallas Cowboys fan. Adams-Gamble has participated in kickball and softball leagues in Jackson, and she has a few 5K runs and one half-marathon under her belt.

Adams-Gamble has been married to her husband, Ali Gamble, for 12 years. She has one daughter, Ayanna (23) and one son, Braylon (13).
