Theatre MSU to host retirement party for Durst
The Mississippi State University Department of Communication and Theatre MSU will host a retirement party for Betty “Jo” Durst on Thursday [May 15] at 1:30 p.m. in the John Grisham Room in Mitchell Memorial Library.
Durst has provided 34 years of service to MSU. Her responsibilities in the department have included teaching numerous classes, such as acting, monologue technique, advanced acting, and directing, as well as advising students in the theatre concentration. Over her more than three decades at MSU, she has directed countless plays for Theatre MSU.
John Forde, department head, said Durst has made many contributions to the department and theatre during her years of service.
“Jo is greatly appreciated in our department and will be missed. She has contributed in many different ways to our theatre program. We wish her the best in this next stage of her life,” Forde said.
