The Mississippi Automotive Manufacturers Association (MAMA) recently donated $5,000 for disaster relief to the Japan-America Society of Mississippi (JASMIS). Funds will go directly to support the Sendai earthquake and tsunami disaster relief in Japan.

The ceremony was held at Mississippi State University's Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems Extension office in Canton.

"Providing this donation is one way that we in the automotive manufacturing business can do our part to help with relief and recovery in Japan," said Don Stoegbauer, Nissan paint plant director and 2011 MAMA president.

The Japan-America Society of Mississippi has established the JASMIS Japan Relief Fund for earthquake and tsunami relief. One hundred percent of all donations will be directed to relief agencies inside Japan, in collaboration with the National Association of Japan-America Societies and the Consulate-General of Japan in Nashville.

MAMA is the trade association of automotive manufacturers in the state of Mississippi. It has a membership of 60 companies, including Nissan, Toyota, and Tier one and two suppliers and support service companies that work within the automotive manufacturing industry.
