Students sponsoring benefit garage sale

"Dawghouse Deals," a garage sale sponsored by the Mississippi State Student Association, is set for Saturday [May 7] under the west concourse of the university's Davis Wade Stadium.

Community members from Starkville and the surrounding area are invited to shop from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. for everything from used refrigerators and furniture to clothing and non-perishable food products. The items were donated by residence hall and fraternity/sorority students who are graduating or moving off campus.

Erin May, a Student Association cabinet member, said, "Though the exact quantity and nature of the goods being sold will depend on the donations collected by students, the SA expects a high inventory of valuable items. Item prices will be non-negotiable, and exact change is preferred."

All proceeds benefit the MSU Foundation's Harold Hall Fund, which provides grants to students who find themselves in need of assistance due to specific family situations or natural catastrophes.

"This is a great way for the SA to not only help cut down on environmental waste, but to support a fund that has been and will continue to be a blessing to students," the Hattiesburg native said.
