Human Resources Management launches new site

Human Resources Management at Mississippi State University has launched a new website this week that provides important information in a more streamlined and user-friendly format.

"The needs of our customers have been the driving focus throughout this process as we worked with Information Technology Services to design and implement the new site. We appreciate Jason Tiffin and his team's expertise and guidance," said HRM Director Judy Spencer. "We used visitor data to determine which sections are most frequently visited, and the new site features that information prominently."

In addition, since HRM's generalists and benefits counselors speak with customers daily, they listened to feedback on the old website, which was then used in the design process.

The site includes a new forms page with an enhanced search feature that allows users to search by keyword and find the form they need quickly. In addition, a checkbox feature allows a user to search by form category. For example, if an individual is looking for a benefits form, but isn't quite sure of the name of the form, he or she can narrow the list of forms to show only those associated with benefits.

Customers who are responsible for hiring and hiring paperwork will appreciate the additions to the employment section, where HRM has added a feature that is a one-stop shop for hiring, Spencer said. It includes posting procedures, recruitment guidelines and hiring paperwork checklists by employee category.

"We've tried to make it easy to find the information needed to get a new hire on board at MSU," she said.

One of the new features on the website includes a section on the homepage titled "Your Benefits at Work." In this section, HRM will highlight specific benefits of working at MSU.

"We've also updated our online orientation, and it provides a wonderful overview of why it's great to work for MSU. Our hope is that this will be a good recruiting tool for departments throughout the university," Spencer said.

HRM's future technology initiatives include a Quality Service Program featuring service surveys, focus groups, and HRM metrics tracking and reporting; working with ITS to mechanize some common forms that can be completed and routed electronically; and, improvement to other HRM processes such as open enrollment and new employee orientation.
