Bert Montgomery

A new collection of personal stories by survivors of 2005's super hurricane is the latest work by a Mississippi State faculty member.

"Going Back to New Orleans: Post-Katrina Re-connections and Recollections" was compiled by Bert Montgomery, a lecturer in philosophy and religion at the university. Released by Nurturing Faith publishers, the 120-page book is part oral history, part memoir.

Stories of devastation, recovery and struggles of everyday people, "Going Back" is available in both print and e-book formats at www.nurturingfaith.net/books.

All author royalties are sent directly to the United Way of Southeast Louisiana.

In addition to teaching at MSU, Montgomery, a New Orleans native and Destrehan High School graduate, is pastor of the University Baptist Church in Starkville. He also is the author of "Psychic Pancakes and Communion Pizza" and "Elvis, Willie, Jesus, and Me."
