Kim Thomas

Kim Thomas, associate director for benefits and data services for Human Resources Management at Mississippi State University, recently completed requirements to become a Certified Employment Benefit Specialist (CEBS).

The CEBS professional designation is an important credential for anyone in the benefits field. Offered by the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans in association with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, it is considered "the standard of excellence in the industry."

The program covers group health benefits, retirement plans and compensation management. The program is comprehensive and challenging, often taking three to five years to complete, but Thomas attained her certification in just over one year.
