Together, a library professor and an English instructor will direct “Maroon & Write,” the writing-to-learn quality enhancement plan at Mississippi State.

Deborah O. Lee, along with her professorial duties, coordinates Library Instructional Services and the Corporate and Statistical Research Center at Mitchell Memorial Library. As the QEP was decided, Lee co-chaired its communications and marketing committee.

In addition to teaching various composition and introduction to literature courses for the English department, Ann Spurlock directs the composition program and supervises graduate teaching assistants.

The QEP is a university-wide plan to enhance undergraduate learning, and the writing-to-learn approach was developed with input from students, student organizations, faculty, staff, administrators and the community. The plan is critical to reaffirming MSU’s accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Provost and Executive Vice President Jerry Gilbert recently announced Lee and Spurlock began their QEP co-director duties on Nov. 1.

“They will each be devoting 50 percent of their effort to this assignment, and I have great confidence that they will do outstanding jobs in providing leadership and direction for our QEP effort,” he said.
