Health services receives maximum reaccreditation
Professional accreditation of Mississippi State's Student Health Services is being extended for another three years, the longest time-period allowed.
The Illinois-based Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care recently notified university officials that the campus provider continues to be in good standing. The new AAHC accreditation period will end Oct. 31, 2016.
Student Health Services is located in the John C. Longest Student Health Center, a memorial to its former director of four decades. A comprehensive outpatient health-care facility, it is located at the intersection of Hardy and Morrill roads.
Dr. Clifton W. "Cliff" Story is executive director of University Health Services, while Robert W. Cadenhead is health center director. Both are MSU alumni.
Story is among five board-certified physicians, who, with four family nurse practitioners, make up the center's medical staff. Including physicians and nurse practitioners, the staff totals some 45 members.
The AAHC is a non-profit accrediting agency established in 1979 to assist ambulatory health-care organizations improve the quality of medical services they provide. Additional information on the organization is available at www.aaahc.org.
