Life is filled with change, opportunities and challenges. The issues may be large or small. Sometimes we could use just a little help, and sometimes a little more help, to find our way. Life's personal and family-related issues don't have to make it difficult for you to get through each day. Just knowing that you have someone who can listen, understand and suggest next steps can make a big difference.

And that is where Mississippi State University's new employee assistance program (EAP) and work-life program will help, beginning April 1.

After more than a year in the making, Human Resources Management is pleased to announce this new benefit for benefits-eligible MSU faculty and staff and their household dependents.

Considerable time, thought and research have gone into the implementation of this program, and it covers many issues: depression and anxiety, alcohol and chemical dependency, and stress are just a few. If you need advice on parenting a teenager, are experiencing money problems, searching for elder care, or have family or work issues -- your new EAP/work-life program can help.

Caring, trained professionals will provide support and help you find answers anytime. This service is completely private and costs you nothing. By engaging the services of an external provider, you can feel comfortable contacting them knowing that your discussions will not be shared with anyone at Mississippi State.

LifeSynch has been chosen to provide these benefits. As a Humana company, it has nearly 25 years of experience in the EAP industry with knowledge of the latest industry trends. It offers a national network of 31,000 EAP providers and the ability to provide services to all MSU employees, regardless of work location. In addition to the ability to contact them by telephone 24/7, you will have access to an award-winning website where you will find resources on a variety of topics. MSU’s program includes referral to a local EAP provider for up to three face-to-face sessions at no cost to you.

This month, LifeSynch will be on campus to answer your questions. This same information will be provided to those working outside of Starkville via recordings, webinars and broadcasts of live sessions.

Please share this information with your family, and take the time to read the material to become acquainted with your new benefit. You are an important member of the MSU family, and we firmly believe this EAP will help our personal and professional lives to flourish.
