Theatre MSU at Mississippi State begins its 2012-13 season with the Wednesday-Friday, Oct. 10-12 student production of "Antigone."

The 7:30 p.m. performances in McComas Hall Auditorium are directed by university communication professor Donna Clevinger. They are part of the Shackouls Honors College's "Classical Week 2012," a celebration of Greek, Roman and other ancient cultures.

The earliest of three tragedies concerning the character of Oedipus, "Antigone" was written by Greek playwright Sophocles, who lived during most of the fifth century B.C.

A "talk back" exploring aspects of ancient Greek society from both scholarly and performance perspectives will be held after each night's performance.

Season tickets or individual performance tickets are available online through the departmental website, www.comm.msstate.edu/dept/theatre.
