Physics and Astronomy hosts 'Howell at the Moon' Tuesday night

Mississippi State's Howell Observatory will be open Tuesday night, Oct. 30 for a special Halloween public viewing.

Titled "Howell at the Moon," the 8-10 p.m. activity is being organized by the university's physics and astronomy department.

The observatory is located on the MSU South Farm, which may be accessed via Stone Boulevard Extended (south of the recreational sports department's RecPlex).

In addition to a full moon, participants will be viewing several winter sky constellations through the 16-inch telescope. Dressing in Halloween costumes for the special trick-or-treat event also is encouraged.

Inclement weather will cancel the viewing.

"We'd love for the public to come out to 'Howell at the Moon' and peer into a universe of wonder," said assistant professor Angelle Tanner, coordinator of the event.
