Toys Come Alive at MSU Riley Center’s Velveteen Rabbit on Friday

— It’s a feast for the eyes, music to the ears, and a sweet story that warms the heart. The Enchantment Theatre Company’s rendition of the classic children’s book, The Velveteen Rabbit, comes to the Riley Center stage on Friday, October 26, 2012, at 7 pm. This family show is based on the much-loved 1922 book by Margery Williams, with its intriguing subtitle, “How Toys Became Real.”

The Philadelphia-based theater company makes innovative use of magic, masks, and life-sized puppets in bringing the characters to life. The play is set to an original musical score crafted by Grammy-,Tony-, and Emmy-award-winning composer and arranger Don Sebesky.

Every member of the family will enjoy the sweet tale of a stuffed rabbit that becomes real through the magic of a child’s love for his toy. As the Horse tells the Velveteen Rabbit, “When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.”

Tickets are $18 and $10 at the MSU Riley Center box office, which is open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at 601-696-2200.
