Cafe Scientifique hosts Smith on Tuesday for civic engagement presentation
Cade Smith, assistant dean and director of student leadership and community engagement at Mississippi State, will deliver a presentation titled "Power of Volunteering and Civic Engagement to Foster Civic Innovation" to Cafe Scientifique on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. in the meeting room at Harvey's.
He will explore the topics of civic capacity, technical capacity and civic innovation and how volunteering and community engagement programs may foster civic capacity and innovation. The presentation also will explore the civic engagement movement in higher education and how the responsibilities of educating citizens extend beyond the formal education system and into the community as a whole.
