Wilson Phillips brings musical pedigree, soaring harmonies to MSU Riley Center
Their parents would be so proud. Wilson Phillips -- the singing trio made up of Chynna Phillips along with Carnie and Wendy Wilson -- is celebrating 20 years of making music together by releasing a new album in April. As they anticipate the album's release, they plan to visit the MSU Riley Center in downtown Meridian for "An Evening with Wilson Phillips," Sunday, March 25, at 6 p.m.
If ticketholders are lucky, selections from the new album will be on the set list for this concert. Entitled "Dedicated," this is Wilson Phillips' first album since their 2010 Christmas collection. The new album's 11 tracks are all classics originally recorded by the singers' parents, Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys and John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas.
While these original songs served as the soundtrack for the 1960s, the decade of the 1990s belonged to Wilson Phillips, beginning with their debut hit, "Hold On." In 1992, their self-titled debut album was declared by Billboard to be the best-selling album of all time by a female group.
