'Danú: A St. Patrick’s Day Celebration' coming to MSU Riley Center on Tuesday

"Danú: A St. Patrick’s Day Celebration" will fill the MSU Riley Center with lilting sounds of traditional Irish music on Tuesday [March 13] at 7:30 p.m.

Named for a Celtic goddess, Danú uses such evocative instruments as the tin whistle, button accordion, flute, fiddle, bodhran, uillean pipes and Irish bouzouki to transport listeners to the Emerald Isle. The music is scrupulously authentic, but also relaxed and playful.

The comfortable vibe extends to the between-songs commentary and banter, full of background tidbits about the tunes and lots of wry, understated humor.

Songs range from mournful ballads to lively jigs and reels that will have you dancing in your seat, if not in the aisle. Expect a show that touches your heart, puts a smile on your face and may even bring a tear to your eye.

Tickets are $35 and $29 at the MSU Riley Center Box Office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at (601) 696-2200.
