Musical icons Judy Collins, Stephen Sills to share Riley stage Aug. 4

The MSU Riley Center in downtown Meridian presents two musical legends: Judy Collins and Stephen Stills, performing live on Aug. 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Making an exceptional event even more special, the Riley Center will offer a pre-show party featuring free refreshments in the Grand Lobby starting at 6:30 p.m.

Collins and Stills helped define one of the most creative periods in American popular music. Collins’ crystalline soprano voice made her a star of the 1960s folk-music scene. In the decades since, she has expanded her repertoire to include many other styles of music, most memorably with her signature hit, “Send in the Clowns.”

Stills has demonstrated his energy, his singing and songwriting skills and his stinging guitar work with Buffalo Springfield (“For What It’s Worth”) and Crosby, Stills & Nash/Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (“Southern Cross”), and as a solo artist (“Love the One You’re With”).

Nearly half a century ago, their love affair inspired Stills to write the song cycle “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes.” Now, these two dear friends are touring together, sharing a stage, sharing stories and, most of all, sharing their incredible music. It will be an evening to cherish.

“We need to continue to thank The Riley Foundation for their sponsorship which allows us to bring in top name artists,” said Dennis Sankovich, executive director of the MSU Riley Center.

Tickets are $55 and $49 at the MSU Riley Center Box Office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and an hour before showtime on the day of the show. Tickets can be purchased online at www.msurileycenter.com or by phone through the box office at (601) 696-2200.
