Traveling overseas? Consider your measles vaccination status

The Longest Student Health Center at Mississippi State offers students, faculty and staff the following update on an important health risk, particularly for international travel.

The measles virus is highly contagious and remains common in many parts of the world, including Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Pacific. Several countries are experiencing an increase of outbreaks.

If you are traveling, you should consider your measles vaccination status, and consult with a medical provider about your potential risk for travel. You may also consider scheduling a travel clinic appointment at the Longest Student Health Center.

Additional information is available online at www.cdc.gov/measles/index.html and www.cdc.gov/measles/travelers.html.
