Little River Band takes stage at MSU Riley Center on Saturday

Little River Band, the most successful pop music group that Australia ever sent to America, will wrap up the MSU Riley Center’s 2016 Spring/Summer Series with a concert Saturday [Aug. 6] at 7:30 p.m. To celebrate the occasion, a pre-show party will offer free refreshments in the Grand Lobby starting at 6 p.m.

Beautifully crafted songs with gorgeous vocals gave the band a long list of hits in the late 1970s and early ’80s, including “Reminiscing,” “Lonesome Loser,” “Cool Change,” “Happy Anniversary,” “Help Is on Its Way” and “Lady.”

Since its 1975 founding, Little River Band has undergone many personnel changes. The closest to an original member is bassist and lead singer Wayne Nelson, who joined in 1980. In concert, the musicians like to tinker with the arrangements of the old hits, just to keep things fresh. But they guarantee that you will indeed hear those vintage favorites, and that you’ll probably start singing along.

“We continue to tour and put on a great live show, and jog people’s memories about some great music," Nelson said.

Tickets are $55 and $49 at the MSU Riley Center Box Office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at 601-696-2200.
