‘Junie B.’s Essential Survival Guide to School’ comes to MSU Riley Center next week

Junie B. Jones has been going to school for “over one and a half entire years!” She has learned “a jillion helpful hints” that she has generously shared in “Junie B.’s Essential Survival Guide to School,” a delightful musical that Theatreworks USA will present at the MSU Riley Center in downtown Meridian on April 6 at 7 p.m.

The performance lasts one hour and is recommended for children in kindergarten through fifth grade (and their parents). As an MSU Riley Center Family Show, it features affordable ticket prices and an early starting time.

Feisty, grammatically challenged Junie B. stars in a beloved series of children’s books by the late Barbara Park. Kids will identify with her frustrations and triumphs as she navigates the mysteries of bus rules, homework and “friends (plus children you may not actually care for).”

Theatreworks USA, a New York-based family theater company, has brought a previous Junie B. musical to the MSU Riley Center. This latest production features the same creative team: Marcy Heisler writing the book and lyrics and Zina Goldrich composing the music. As Junie B. would say, get ready for wowie wow wow family fun.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for students at the MSU Riley Center Box Office, which is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.msurileycenter.com or by calling the box office at 601-696-2200.
