Become certified to use an automated external defibrillator Nov. 8

The Office of Regulatory Compliance and Safety and Human Resources Management are partnering to bring Medic First Aid International training to Mississippi State University. After participating in the three-hour interactive session, attendees will be certified to administer an automated external defibrillator (AED).

This program will help MSU employees in responding to and caring for medical emergencies at work. Topics covered in the program include basic AED operation and basic maintenance of an AED. The AED used in this training is the Philips Onsite Heartstart, the only AED that can be purchased without a medical prescription.

Only university employees that hold a current certification from the Medic Basic CPR and First Aid may participate in the AED training.

Each class is limited to 12 participants and a minimum of seven attendees must be present to hold the class. Please wear comfortable clothes to the session.

Training sessions and locations are:

Tuesday, Nov. 8, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Room 231, Colvard Student Union
