CTL to host 'Helping Students to be More Effective Learners' session

The Center for Teaching and Learning at Mississippi State will start its fall Brown Bag Series on Wednesday [Oct. 8] with "Note-taking, Cellphones, Laptops: Helping Students to be More Effective Learners."

The panel of presenters will include Michael Seymour, associate Extension professor and CTL faculty associate, Tom Carskadon, professor of psychology and First Year Experience director, and Kris King, instructional designer with the CTL. They will discuss effective student engagement strategies as well as new technologies that can be utilized for successful note-taking.

The session will be held in Mitchell Memorial Library's Grisham Room. Lunch will be provided beginning at 11:30, available while it lasts. The session is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Registration is encouraged.
