RCR training: 'Ethics in Public Contracting, Anti-Kickback and Procurement'

Join the Office of Research and Economic Development at Mississippi State University for "Ethics in Public Contracting, Anti-Kickback and Procurement" on Thursday [March 20] from 3-4 p.m. in the Bost Extension Center theater.

Contractors assist researchers in carrying out their programs and activities. Contracting is used for a range of purposes from professional services and logistical support to construction activities and property management. When a researcher is involved with procuring property or services under a federal grant, the principal investigator must make sure it is compliant with standards involving procurement practices, contracting services, conflict of interest provisions and other related issues.

This seminar will address topics associated with responsibilities for PIs and staff involved with public contracting. Don Buffum, director of the Department of Procurement and Contracts at MSU, will lead the session.
